Back in Time: Visiting Ephesus

When it came time to leave Izmir, we realised that the only way out of the country into Greece was going to be on an early morning ferry from the town of Kusadasi. Getting to Kusadasi for the 8:30am departure from Izmir was out of the question by public transport. We love Pide

Yes, it’s official, we love pide. Our friends the Kims in Izmir got us into it and there’s no going back now. Pide is the name for Turkish pizza which comes in a little oval shaped form, with a thin base and a selection of toppings including spinach, cheese, minced lamb etc. Read the rest of this entry »

Rushing to Izmir

Arriving back from a night out with Yesim at a local place where they had some really good live music and extortionately expensive wine, we decided to check email around midnight. Good thing we did: the couple in Izmir who we are heading to stay with have sent us an email. You should come tomorrow it says. Oh my… we had planned on at least three more days in Istanbul.
