In answer to your question asked sometime ago, I have read 39 books on the 1001 Books list for 2008. I can’t remember how I was doing on the original list. While I lost a couple, I did gain some from the additions. The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri is a superior work and I highly recommend it. By the same token, I would have probably been happier skipping a couple of books which were on the 2006 edition and since removed. Cést la vie!
